歷史

廣東南海縣商人陳體全公歲末收得貨銀後乘船返回廣州，船隻抵達廣州後，因匆忙上岸而遺失貨銀。貨銀被經營草藥店、諳熟醫術的李昇佐公拾獲。

同為南海縣人的李昇佐公為人忠厚，拾金不昧，整日留守碼頭等候失主。陳體全公回到家中，發覺遺失貨銀後四出尋覓，尋至碼頭時獲李昇佐公將貨銀交還。

陳體全公感李昇佐公品德誠實，意欲酬報，李昇佐公婉言謝絕。陳體全公誠懇提出將半數遺金投資於李昇佐公經營的草藥店，李昇佐公謙辭再三，終不能却。二人當即用紅柬寫下合夥文書，「本錢各出，利益均沾，同心濟世，長發其祥」，將店號定名為「陳李濟」，意為陳李二人合夥經營，同心濟世。
